Douglas W. Stinson is Vice President, Senior Appraiser and principal auctioneer of Carl W. Stinson Inc. Auctioneers and Appraisers of Reading. Mr. Stinson will be available to review your antiques and treasured heirlooms on November 16, 2006 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Americal Center. Items that will be accepted for appraisal will include Oil paintings (landscapes, seascapes, portraits), watercolors, etchings, prints, bronze and marble sculpture, American and Continental decorative arts from the 17th-20th centuries including but not limited to: China, Glassware, Art Pottery, Silver, Oriental rugs, lamps and lighting, clocks, nautical items, and any other items that you may be curious about. Due to time constraints Mr. Stinson requests that you bring no more than three items per person. Items not available for appraisal due to time constraints and research considerations include: coins and stamps, ethnographic items, and weapons (guns, swords etc). If you have larger items that you want appraised such as a room size Oriental carpet, a large painting or a piece of furniture, or a large sculpture or garden statuary, etc., please bring photographs and dimensions with you. It is also suggested that if you have an extremely fragile item that you take photographs and bring the images rather than the actual item. If you have questions about the appropriateness of a particular item feel free to contact Mr. Stinson directly, and send him digital images via his email address: dstinsonantiques@comcast.net or call the offices in Reading at (781)944-6488. Mr. Stinson and his staff are also available for in house evaluations.
The firm conducted their first auction in 1961. The Stinson auction house, with Carl W. Stinson as the President, reviews and sells millions of dollars worth of tangible personal property and fine art on a yearly basis. On any given week Mr. Stinson and his staff travel throughout the New England area. They visit homes and estates to assist Attorneys, Trust officers, Executors and estate administrators with the sensitive process of tangible property evaluation and the thorough documentation of these items for state and Federal tax purposes. When appropriate the Stinson auction house provides comprehensive brokerage and auction services. Should their clients wish to sell their items directly, Carl W. Stinson Inc. Auctioneers and Appraisers are also willing to purchase collections and individual items.
